What an exciting year I have had painting and reaching out to many other artists. I have used Facebook to reach out to over 5000 artists discussing and sharing information about decorative painting and ceramics. Earlier this year I decided to experiment with painting on a variety of surfaces and try something a little different. Instead of just painting on wood and metal that decided I would reach into my past life as a certified ceramic instructor and paint on ceramic bisque. I have been involved in the ceramic industry since 1966 when I joined my mother and grandmother in painting my very first ceramic piece. The piece happened to be a little tiny fish toothpick holder but you would have thought the piece was an Armoire or some type of really large piece of bisque. From that point on, I was hooked as I eventually owned and operated two ceramic businesses, Dave's Ceramic Nook and Northern Virginia Ceramic Supply.
By combining my decorative art and ceramic backgrounds, I was off running and painting on ceramic bisque. After posting pictures of the piece on Facebook, the Ceramic Artist Guild's (CAG) Tom Bailey approach me about becoming the CAG Ambassador to Decorative Art and asked to include the complete lesson and pictures of my ceramic scissor tray in CAG's CERAKANVAAS magazine. I was very honored and accepted Tom's offers. Below are articles that have now been published in the CERAKANVAS magazine. All pieces painted using the Heritage MultiMedia Acrylics and Mediums. As I have additional articles published, as I now submit a new item quarterly, I will post those items here as well.
